Charles Bookwalter raises more than $137,000 in campaign to unseat Republican Rep. Jim Baird
***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
THORNTOWN, Indiana | Monday, Oct. 16, 2023: Congressional candidate Charles Bookwalter showed total receipts of $137,580 on his campaign’s latest report to the Federal Election Commission and 108 individual contributors.
“I’m supported by real Americans, the majority of them Hoosiers who live in the 4th Congressional District who are frustrated and ready to fight to take back their government,” said Bookwalter.
In addition to the 108 named contributors on his FEC filing, the Bookwalter campaign had an additional 19 small-dollar contributors for a total of 127 individual contributors.
In the third quarter of 2023, which ended Sept. 30, Bookwalter’s campaign had total receipts of $84,885, which included $45,235 in contributions and $35,000 that Charles Bookwalter loaned his campaign.
As of Sept. 30, the campaign had $93,785 cash on hand.
“This is a good start,” said Bookwalter. “We’re happy with what we’ve raised and what we now have in the campaign account. This is the seed money we need to fund the next phase of our campaign and replace a member of Congress who has repeatedly voted for big government.”
Charles Bookwalter is challenging Rep. Jim Baird for the Republican nomination for Congress in Indiana’s 4th Congressional District, which includes 15 counties in western Indiana.
He’s a former Green Beret and entrepreneur who lives with his family in Boone County.
Baird was first elected in 2018 and has never faced a primary challenger. He’s rated as a “high spender” by the website Spending Tracker [https://spendingtracker.org/rep/jim-baird] and has faced criticism from constituents for voting to spend $113 billion on the war in Ukraine and for co-sponsoring a bill to create a vaccine tracking system to track the vaccine status of every American.
